Counseling in Fishers, IN
Stress Less
Anxiety is the most common issue that brings clients to my office. There is so much pressure these days— to be a top performer at work, to have well-behaved and high-achieving kids, and to make sure your marriage looks happy to everyone watching you.
You start to have thoughts like “I’ll never be enough; I’m alone; I’ll never live up to everyone’s expectations.” You want to fit in, but sometimes you feel so isolated. That lonely feeling leads you to withdraw even more, and eventually you find yourself having physical symptoms of anxiety like shortness of breath, pounding heart, headaches, tension, and even panic attacks.
When you find yourself looking for anxiety relief, counseling for anxiety can be very helpful.
My approach with anxious clients is two-fold: first, I teach several practical tools like grounding techniques and breathing exercises that can help reduce anxiety right away. Second, we can work together to identify your beliefs and thoughts that are leading to your anxious feelings.
Frequently, my clients and I discover that underlying traumatic or distressing memories are the root of their anxiety. In these cases, EMDR is often helpful to allow you to move confidently into your future without being tied down by the past.
